Shelter / Food / Water Level 1 is three classes in one. The first part of the class will cover how to make two different shelters for wilderness survival: the debris shelter and the scout pit.
Note: Because this is an entry level class, we will not actually be making these shelters. In addition, participants will learn how to use household items to construct a shelter indoors for power outages when it gets really cold.
The second part of the class will focus on Food, specifically the, “Big Four.” The Big Four are plants that can be found almost anywhere in the world. Participants will learn how to make Pine Needle Tea, Acorn Muffins, Flower out of Cattails and much more.
The third part of the class will focus on water, how to find it, how to purify it and in the extreme how to produce it yourself.
This course is both a perquisite for the Shelter Level 2 class (that will focus on actually constructing both a debris shelter and a scout pit), and the Mount Charleston Survival Experience Level 1 (Summer).
