Fire Level 1 is all about Fire and Household Items. Participants will learn how to use household items to make a fire. These items are found in almost every house in America and during the second half of the class everyone will get a chance to try these methods first hand. In addition, several wilderness survival fire starting methods will be presented and how they can be implemented in an urban survival setting will be explained. Other aspects for Fire will also be explored: how to make candles, how to make heaters, how to store fire, etc.
This course is both a perquisite for the Fire Level 2 class and the Mount Charleston Survival Experience Level 1 (Summer). The Level 2 class will focus on the actual crafting of a Bow Drill Set and other Primitive Fire Starting Apparatus, and how to correctly use them.
