Lou

NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

Lou has over 40 years of combined US Navy, Law Enforcement/Fire Service, and Private Security experience. He has since retired from the Pacific Northwest. His goals are to expand his NRA certifications and teach shooters of all experience levels to sharpen their skills.

Lou began “pressing” a trigger at the age of 7 and has been dedicated to shooting sports ever since. He competed on his high school rifle team (yes, that was a thing in the day). Lou is a seasoned first responder, submariner, hostage negotiator, and critical incident manager.  Despite a high-octane career, he brings calm and experience to his firearm instruction, to instill his students with a sense of confidence and success.

Lou has two rules when it come to firearms training. Be safe and have fun.

Robert

NRA Instructor

Rob is an NRA Range Safety Officer and an NRA Basic Pistol Instructor. He has been shooting for just over a decade and is proficient with everything from black powder revolvers to modern handguns, rifles and shotguns.

He genuinely loves to instruct and understands everyone is unique and requires an individual approach to learning, as well as an occasional sense of humor.

John

NRA Instructor

John has spent over 30 years career in the United States Marine Corps with deployments in every continent he brings real world experience to the GVR training team. John began teaching firearms and tactics to Marines over three decades ago and ended his career as an aerial gunnery instructor. John has taught Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape (SERE) to special warfare operators and high risk of capture personnel and helped write the Navy’s anti-terrorism and hostage survival program (ATAHS).

As a lifelong learner John holds a degree in Military leadership and Firearm Science and has attended the Anti-Terrorism Instructor Course at the JFK Special Warfare Center at Fort Bragg NC. He is a graduate of the Nevada Police Officers Standardized Training (POST) and the Nevada Advance Highway Patrol Academy as well as the Academi Advanced Skills Handgun Course and has graduated from the Gunsite Academy with an expert rating.

John currently is qualified as a NRA training counselor certified to qualify others as NRA instructors in basic pistol, rifle and shotgun, defensive pistol, personal protection in and out of the home and Range Safety officers as well as a Refuse to Be a Victim instructor. He is also a certified gunsmith as well as a Chief Range Safety Officer and a United States Concealed Carry Association associate instructor. John is a NSC Emergency Preparedness instructor, a PILB instructor and is authorized to teach handcuffing, baton and OC spray tactics.

Mark

NRA Instructor

Mark had two distinguished careers before deciding to become an NRA certified instructor at Green Valley Range. He has spent 21 years of his life in service to the country in the United States Air Force where his primary job was to work on jet fighter aircraft. His most visible accomplishment in the Air Force was his assignment to the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron “Thunderbirds”. While serving on this team he traveled all over the United States and several foreign countriesas an “Ambassador in Blue”.  
 
His career also included other assignments as an instructor in his designated career field, an advisor to the Illinois Air National Guard and several classified assignments. After retiring from the Air Force, Mark continued serving by teaching in the Clark County School District, (Palo Verde High School) for 14 years as an AFJROTC Instructor. His areas of expertise were aerospace science, Drill, and Leadership.  
 
Mark started at Green Valley Range as a club member in 2014. He became an NRA certified Range Safety officer and became an employee of Green Valley Range in March of 2023. He is now an NRA certified pistol instructor and ready to utilize his skills to teach others to safely operate and enjoy firearms.

Brian

NRA Instructor

Brian is a second generation Marine Corps retiree and gun enthusiast with over 40 years of firearms experience.

An accomplished Instructor who has taught everything from Hazardous Materials and Fire Science to Firefighting and Emergency Vehicle Operations, he has a unique perspective on instruction and  prides himself on his ability to find the best way to teach any subject. He is particularly passionate about educating shooters both old and new.
